Top Sites To Advertise Your Used Boat To Reach Canadians

The American used boat market is huge when compared to the Canadian used boat market. Just the state of Florida has more used boats that any other North American used boat market!

Americans have hundreds of used boat websites to advertise on to reach other Americans, but the lets face it, many Americans are now looking to Canada to advertise their boats. The Canadian Dollar is strong and Canadians are looking south to find deals on boats that they cannot find in Canada. Many Canadians don't know where to look online in the US used boat market and search only in Canadian used boat classifieds.

More and more American boat ads are showing up on Canadian online used boat classifieds. All you have to do is scan the Craigslist listings to see what I mean.

American used boats are all over Canada's top used boat classifieds, sites like www.boatquest.ca (a US site with a Canadian section), www.apolloduck.ca (a european site with a Canadian section), www.boatcan.com (a Canadian site) and www.canadaboatshopper.com (a Canadian site).

Americans are finding these top used boat resources simply by checking out the search engine results on Google, MSN and Yahoo. An informal check of search engine results shows that while there are more boats listed on boatquest and boatcan, they seem to concentrate on getting their home pages on the search engines and hope that people will find the ads once you visit their sites.

I have found one Canadian site that seems to take a different approach. Canada Boat Shopper ( www.canadaboatshopper.com ) seems to have good search engine presence for their main site and homepage but where they really shine is in how they promote their ads. I simply copied the titles of the peoples ads on Canada Boat Shopper and 'Googled" the title and found that the Canada Boat Shopper ad was either first or second in the search results. This is incredible. Of all the ads online for the same kind and year of boat, their ads were returning not just on the first page (a coveted position) but at the top of the list. This makes advertising with them seem incredibly effective when trying to get your used boat ad noticed among the hundreds of thousands out there.

The ad was inexpensive, and about 10 days later was the first result returned on Google when I queried the title of the ad. Top search engine results is about the best anyone could want amidst the trillions of pages of content online these days.

In my opinion, Americans and Canadians alike should be making more use of this service.

I also suggest boatcan.com and apolloduck.ca. In researching the visitor history all three of these sites ( www.canadaboatshopper.com , www.boatcan.com and www.apolloduck.ca ) had excellent visitor statistics.

I don't want to sound like I am endorsing Canada Boat Shopper, but how could I not love a service that is cheap, offers the best darn search engine placement I could ask for, filters email from scammers and spammers who lurk on used boat websites (and any classifieds where things of value are sold) and is attracting so many visitors. I have even started to place banners promoting my boating advice on their site...

Anyway, draw your own conclusions but you should look into these sites if you are serious about marketing your boat online.

I took your advice and

I took your advice and looked at Canada Boat Shopper. It appears that they no longer offer free ads, but they do offer a $39 ad that stays online until sold. Seemed like a good deal to me. I upgraded to a few extras and waited a week. Sure enough, my ad was first place in Google and MSN. Thanks for the advice. It is not the greatest season to be selling a boat but at least it will be online when someone is looking.
